Now, since my TV, PS3, DVD player etc is all in the living room, I decided to move the entire setup there so I can connect most of the devices to the router via ethernet cables. I mimicked the same setup in the living room but for some reason, the internet light on the router stayed red. I do not know why. I disconnected the line to the old room's outlet and attached the line to the new room into the 3 way splitter installed originally by the tech. If you move your modem, the outlet you plan on plugging the modem in to would need to be connected to the two way spliter directly. Help. If one room is connected to the phone service, all other rooms phone jacks can receive the phone signal. ok, so upstairs in the attic we have a modem and a router, the modem works fine up there and so does the router. When you do your own install they send you filters you plug in yourself to the jacks, but when they do it, they do it outside. If Centurylink installed it then you can PROBABLY not move it to another jack because they install a filter to all the other lines outside your house which will remove the DSL from the other lines.
